The Obligation of Happily Ever After

There are a few things in life that I would never want to be a surprise to myself, including becoming pregnant and attending my own wedding. Looks like I’m not the only one who feels this way:

If they had agreed to have children someday and then he decided to secretly sabotage their birth control so that he could surprise her with the pregnancy, we would be outraged.

But if a man throws a surprise wedding for a woman who is planning on marrying him, the general reaction is one of approval.
